The Feel Good Idea Of The Day: Play
Play. This morning as I sit at my desk to write The Feel Good Idea Of The Day, I feel the depth of late Autumn closing around me. Play? Play, really? how can I Play when I feel the intensity of Autumn (change of weather, emotions, shadows) closing around me? Perhaps because of this closing in, it is a perfect time to Play. In order to keep a feeling of airiness, keep a feeling of lightness. The picture of me Playing in the Hoh Rain Forest is especially helpful for me. This picture is like a big drink of water, a flash of sunshine on my skin. It feels relaxing and it feels softening. It intrigues me how the pictures I have taken all Summer long are now popping up on my blog because they bring me joy in Autumn. I feel very connected to the seasons, and living in the country, I feel more of the weight of them than I ever have before. I am a town girl to country girl transplant. This will be my second winter here. It is so different compared to how I used to be. I was a real "girl about town," walking downtown in the rain to see live music or have a bite to eat with a friend. My life has changed. I do more nesting now. When I lived in town, I had begun my journey into living more elementally; I feel the depth of it more now-- I look out at the view each morning, see how the fog rolls into pockets in the forest or disperses itself amongst the field. Play becomes increasingly important to me. Play is my medicine. Play is essentially another way to say: Presence. Play is another word for Awareness. Play is another avenue to approach Resting Softly. More than yesterday, today is an important day for Play. Childlike, free, and exploratory--Play imbibes all the essence of these words. Play is the Spice of Life when the days are getting dark. Play is the Cup of Hot Tea. Play is like resting from our worries and doubts. I am going to continue my day with Play as my theme. I am going to Play when I begin worrying. I am going to Play when I feel bored. I share this story with you because I want you to know, if you feel the same way you are not alone. This is a place to rest. Please join The Feel Good Crew to get my letters via email. You are welcome here. Weave your thread into the story by commenting below.
