The Feel Good Idea Of The Day: Mystic Heart

Mystic tie-dye piece by Jill Lawrence, 2011.

We were borne before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won
As we sailed into the mystic

Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

And when that foghorn blows
I will be coming home
And when the foghorn blows
I want to hear it

I don’t have to fear it and I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And magnificently we will flow into the mystic

When that fog horn blows
You know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows
I got to hear it

I don’t have to fear it and I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will flow into the mystic
Come on, girl

Too late to stop now
— Van Morrison, song "Into The Mystic"

A Mystic is defined as:  a person who seeks by contemplation and self-surrender to obtain unity with or absorption into the Deity or the absolute, or who believes in the spiritual apprehension of truths that are beyond the intellect.

After reading this definition, I wonder:

my heart must be a mystic, because when I listen to my heart...there is a sense of peace and unity I can feel, beyond intellect...beyond reason...a swelling, a gentle rhythm playing an ancient song that is so deep...I just know that I could live here and drink this sustenance...my heart...she must be a mystic...

When I give myself a moment to close my eyes and feel the symphony within, timelessness begins to unwind, and that feeling of unity the mystics are famous for, it comes into full view ...orange, purple, pink, a sunsets dream...is that a luminous light I see?

It seems that the heart creates the mystic.  Or that mystics create hearts.  Of course, to say anything is absolute would be un-mystic...and we are interested in keeping mystique, (insert smiley face wink emoji.)  This is fun to play with, and I invite you to do some of this playing with me.  Questions to ponder or write about in your journal:  What and/or who is a mystic?  Who and what for is the heart?  Where will my heart lead me if I listen?

How deep can you imagine?  How much fun can you have exploring this...how much joy?  Please report your adventures thru the heart by commenting below.  You are part of The Feel Good Crew, you are welcome here.
